It is understood the carrier is experiencing significant demand for such operations, which has required the need for another aircraft.

With the addition of the new aircraft, Nairobi-based Kenya Airways will be providing cargo operations to the following destinations:

  • Sharjah & Dubai World Central.
  • Jeddah & Riyadh.
  • Dakar.
  • Lagos.
  • Ndjamena
  • Mogadishu.
  • Mumbai
  • Freetown.
  • Monrovia.

Commenting on this was Allan Kilavuka, Kenya Airways CEO & Group Managing Director, who said the following in Nairobi:

“As Africa continues to unravel the trade opportunities available within the continent, there is consensus that there is a need to invest in sustainable freight systems that will enable us to reach our full potential for socio-economic development.”

“One of these is the need for a well-developed and capable air cargo system to support trade.”

“With the addition of this freighter, KQ will now offer increased cargo capacity to existing routes as well as new cargo destinations and we encourage the market to take advantage of the new provision to maximize on the trade opportunities and potential for the region.”

All eyes will be on the carrier to see how such cargo operations perform with the additional aircraft, and whether the Nairobi-based airline will need more aircraft going into the future.

But for now, Kenya Airways and it’s cargo operations continue to grow with quite some velocity.
