CEO club with ₹50 cr+ pay sees 2x addition

Bengaluru: The proportion of chief executives and managing directors at Nifty 50 companies earning more than Rs 50 crore in FY24 has doubled since FY19.

One out of every five (22%) CEOs and MDs earned more than Rs 50 crore in the last fiscal year, compared with one out of every 10 (10%) five years ago, according to a Deloitte study shared exclusively with ET.

Of the 10 promoter-incumbents, 30% earned more than Rs 50 crore in FY24, compared with 27% in FY19. Of the 31 non-promoter incumbents, 20% earned Rs 50 crore-plus, up from just 4% in FY19, according to the study, which analysed 41 of the Nifty 50 companies, excluding PSUs and three others where there was no active incumbent, the MD had voluntarily relinquished compensation.
