Irish Startup Tao Climate Showcases Aviation Carbon-Negative Tech

By admin Jun10,2025

An Irish climate tech startup, Tao Climate, is tackling a growing aviation issue with a leading solution to tackle greenwashing.

The European Commission recently flagged 17 major airlines for misleading environmental claims. With stricter regulations looming, airlines are scrambling for credible solutions.

Tao Climate says it offers a scientifically backed platform to help airlines move from vague promises to verified carbon reduction.

Tao Climate EU Approval

The start-up company is supported by Google, Enterprise Ireland, and the European Space Agency. Additionally, Tao Climate’s technology has earned a prestigious nod from the European Commission.

Its acceptance onto the InvestEU platform marks it as a trusted investment for decarbonization. This recognition highlights the startup’s ability to deliver measurable, transparent results. It now aims to provide support for an industry under pressure to clean up its act.

“Our platform provides real science and real carbon removal,” said Gary Byrnes, CEO of Tao Climate. “Airlines can no longer rely on empty claims or symbolic gestures like planting trees. Brussels demands hard data and verifiable action, and we deliver exactly that.”

Use of Regenerative Hemp Farming

Tao Climate’s approach is unique. It uses regenerative hemp farming to capture CO2 from the atmosphere and store it in sustainable building materials like hempcrete.

This process is fast, trackable, and fully compliant with EU standards, making it a game-changer for airlines aiming to meet ambitious climate goals.

Appearance at Dublin FTE Event

From June 10-12, 2025, Tao Climate will feature its innovative technology at the Future Travel Experience EMEA and FTE Ancillary & Retailing event in Dublin.

Industry professionals can explore the Tao Carbon API and even touch a carbon negative hempcrete block at the startup’s stand. This hands-on experience demonstrates the clear impact of their solution.
