Other experimenters included Oliver Lodge and Jagadish Chandra Bose. Radio patents were fought over like most of the electric industry’s patents. Astute patent dealings were a necessity.
Rapid Radio is a productivity enhancement tool designed to reduce the knowledge base required for implementing a receiver on an FPGA-based SDR platform. The RapidRadio framework consists of two phases: the analysis phase and the radio synthesis phase. The analysis phase identifies an unknown signal and determines its modulation scheme and parameters. This process uses a series of transformations to accentuate certain features of the signal.
The framework then determines the probability of occurrence of each constellation, using multiple metrics to rank them. Artificial intelligence blocks like neural networks have been used to do this, but they require a significant amount of training and are not flexible enough for RapidRadio. In contrast, a Bayesian network is natural to use as a metric because it does not require a priori training and is easily modified.
Rapid radios are used in applications such as telemetry and monitoring. These devices can track data, transmit signals to remote locations and be programmed to send alerts in the event of critical conditions. They are also used in navigation systems such as LORAN and GPS.
